Histogram Viewer

Version

The current version is Histogram Viewer 1.1.0 (12. November 2008).

Description

The Histogram Viewer generates the histogram of a selected image. When the user right clicks on an image, the option "Histogram Viewer" is shown in the context menu. If the user selects this option a new window is opened which shows the histogram of the image.

Currently this histogram is generated based on the sum of all 3 RGB color channels. An individual histogram for each of the 3 color channels is planned for the future as well the output of statistical values like min, max, mean, median.

Warning

Please note that it may take a while to generate the histograms for large images. So when you get the "Warning: unresponsive Script" please click continue and be patient. This warning can occur several times on really large images (>5 mega pixel). For next version a "rough histogram" is planned which will generate a quick but not as accurate version and only if specifically asked for a histogram based on the original sized image.

Download

The addon can be downloaded via addons.mozilla.org. Since it is currently still in the Sandbox it can only be downloaded by users who have an account there. So you either have to get an account (btw when you have an account you can also comment on addons and addons with many and good comments get out of the sandbox quicker, if you understand what I mean).

Those who do not want to register on that site can download it via here. (You may give this site permission to install addons.)

ideas for future versions

  • individual histograms for each color channel
  • show statistical values like min, max, mean and median
  • show progress bar when generating histograms for lange images
  • have several histogram windows open at the same time
